So, my referral for Yellow Fever was a red herring that caused a mild row between me and the reception lady at the travel clinic.
I can understand why she was confused by my insistence on the info provided by my GP clinic (this being that I needed a test for a certificate and the outcome would dictate my choice of malaria tablets- neither of these were correct.)
But I did take my own umbrage at her insistence that I tell her which “countries in North America I’m going to…”
Needless to say we rowed & regarded each other with great suspicion until the nurse came in & broke us up.
My very pleasant consultation resulted in a large pile of tetracyclin tabs (we’ll see if I can bear to take these with their multiple contraindications) & a shot in the arm for Japanese Encephalitis.
This seems to be a mozzy-borne disease that can kill pretty quick and is found around pigs & paddy fields, both of which are being encroached upon by urban India.
The shot itself made me incredibly arsey yesterday with Lucy, my friend Paul, the council guys trimming trees across the road and a poor girl in Budgen’s all getting a piece of my infected mind…
Rabies shots are next so I’d better book a cell at Parkside in advance methinks…
Started having my shots for travel today, much less scary than anticipated; Hep A, Hep B & typhoid.
Delivered very kindly by the shots nurse at Arbury Rd Surgery, let’s see if my arms fall off eh?
I have another Hep B in a month (then another a month later and one when I get back) plus a test for Yellow Fever that I now have to book…
