I’m a 30-something British bloke living in Cambridge, UK.

A long, long time ago I started an online radio station in my own living room and called it 209radio. Before that I was an industrial chemist.

209radio grew out of my home into premises, employed three people and became a licensed UK Community Radio station with registered charity status. Hundreds of volunteers made great radio programmes with us on 105 FM.

A combination of bad economic weather, poorly thought out and executed legislation, plus the kind of governance one only encounters in the ’3rd sector’ meant that this beautiful thing lived from 2003 to 2010. Its passing was mourned by many.

Life goes on for the new incarnation of community radio in Cambridge; a group of us had the licence transferred to a new organisation with a fresh start – Cambridge 105.

Now I’m a freelance producer for broadcast radio, audio and online. I’m also studying part-time for an NCTJ Diploma in Broadcast Journalism.
